Prince Harry and Prince Andrew sitting in same row at King’s coronation

Prince Harry and Prince Andrew are sitting in the third row for the King’s coronation, having entered Westminster Abbey just before 10.40am.

The Duke of Sussex was all smiles, chatting to his cousin Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi as he walked into the abbey.

The Duke of York was with the same group, which also included a heavily pregnant Princess Eugenie, and her husband Jack Brooksbank, Zara Tindall and her husband Mike Tindall and the Princess Royal.

Neither Prince Harry or Prince Andrew have a formal role in the ceremony.

Prince Harry did not wear any form of military or ceremonial clothing, but instead wore a dark suit with medals pinned to his suit jacket.

Prince Andrew wore ceremonial robes of the Order of the Garter, despite not being a working member of the royal family. He waved from the car to the crowds as he was driven to the abbey.

After much speculation as to where Prince Harry would be seated in the abbey, he was positioned in the third row, two rows behind his brother the Prince of Wales.

His uncle, the Duke of York, was also in the third row, seated at the other end from Prince Harry.

The Prince and Princess of Wales sat in the front row for the historic ceremony, with their children Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Their eldest son, Prince George, was not seated with them – he was part of the ceremony as a page of honour.

It is the first time Prince Harry has been seen with his relatives in public since he criticised members of the Royal Family in his memoir, Spare.

Prince Harry and Prince Andrew will not be part of the procession behind the Gold State Coach carrying the newly crowned King and Queen from Westminster Abbey back to Buckingham Palace following the two-hour ceremony.

Prince Harry is expected to return to the US following the coronation ceremony.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has stayed at home in California to be with the couple’s son Prince Archie on his fourth birthday.

Prince Andrew stepped away from public life after a disastrous Newsnight interview in November 2019 in which he discussed his friendship with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Virginia Giuffre sued the royal for allegedly sexually assaulting her when she was 17 after she was trafficked by Epstein.

Prince Andrew paid millions to settle a civil sex assault claim brought by Ms Giuffre earlier this year. He denies any wrongdoing.
