Jamie Foxx has been announced as the host of a new musical game show in the US.

It comes just days after the Oscar and Grammy-winning star‘s family confirmed he had been discharged from hospital following an “unspecified medical incident”.

In April, the 55-year-old actor’s family shared the news that he had suffered “a medical complication”. He was reportedly taken ill in Atlanta while filming a movie called Back In Action with Cameron Diaz.

Now, following recuperation, Foxx will front a new music-guessing game alongside his daughter Corinne, 29. They are also executive producers on the show.

We Are Family, which will air on the Fox network, will see non-famous relatives of celebrities performing duets with their hidden famous family member.

Members of a 100-strong studio audience will attempt to guess the identity of the celebrity that the performer is related to in a bid to win up to $100,000 (£80,000).

Celebrities appearing on We Are Family will include actors, musicians and sports stars.

Foxx already co-hosts another musical game show on Fox – Beat Shazam – again alongside his daughter. Actor Nick Cannon and reality star Kelly Osbourne have stepped in to fill their roles while Foxx is recuperating.

News of their new project was teased by Foxx’s daughter last week in an update on her father’s health.

She wrote: “Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild.

“My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!”

Foxx had previously shared a message to his fans on social media saying he appreciated “all the love” and was “feeling blessed”.
