A manhunt has been launched after a woman suffered head and wrist injuries during an attack by an intruder in the middle of the night.

The 19-year-old victim was attacked in a flat in the Argyll and Bute area of Scotland.

Police Scotland said a man entered the property, in Helensburgh’s Hood Court, via an unlocked door and assaulted the teenager at around 1am on Wednesday.

The victim was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment.

The suspect was described as having a heavy build, and being around 6ft tall.

He also had a short scruffy brown beard and was wearing a hooded orange high-vis style jacket that had a reflective line.

DC Adam McCreery said investigating officers want to hear from anyone who may have CCTV of the area between 11.30pm and 1.30am.
