A suspect has been charged following the alleged murder of a 37-year-old man in Inverclyde.

Emergency services were called to Angus Road in Greenock after reports of a disturbance involving three men at about 9.50pm on Sunday.

The men were taken to hospital, with the 37-year-old pronounced dead a short time later.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death and is due to appear in court on Tuesday.

A post-mortem examination is to be carried out, however Police Scotland said the death is being treated as murder.

The force said the man’s next of kin have been informed.

Detective Inspector Ally Semple said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.
