The family of a British hiker who went missing in Switzerland three months ago have confirmed his body has been found.
Aidan Roche, 29, a chemical engineer from Middlesbrough, was last heard from on 22 June when he was on the Eiger Trail in the Grindelwald area of the Bernese Alps.
The experienced hiker was on a two-week solo camping trip in Switzerland and was due home within days when he went missing.
Mr Roche’s body was found by police “near the trail” where he had been walking, the family said.
His brother Connor Roche said it had “hit us all hard” and thanked everyone “who helped us through all of this”.
He said: “We received the news last week that the police in Switzerland had found Aidan near the trail he was walking.
“The news has hit us all hard, even with this outcome on our minds over the last few months.
“On behalf of my entire family, I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped us through all of this.
“The outpouring of support from so many people has got us through all of the uncertainty and anguish and shows just how loved Aidan was.

More than £30,000 was raised as part of efforts to help fund the search for the hiker.
