Astounding video shows elated migrants wildly sprinting into El Paso, Texas, after crossing the Rio Grande and crawling under treacherous razor wire.
In drone footage captured by The Post, a young child can be seen jumping and cheering alongside two other small children as a group of about seven adults slither beneath the sharp wire that stretches just beyond the bank of the international divide.
The group of migrants continued celebrating as they darted across the desert sand toward the border wall, which did little to prevent their entry into the US.
Once a migrant crosses the river, they are on US soil and automatically entitled to being taken in and processed by the US Border Patrol.
One man is seen clapping and pumping his arms in the air in celebration, while a woman puts her hands on her chest and smiles in relief.
The group is just one of thousands to successfully cross the southern border in recent months ultimately putting a crushing strain on cities across the nation.
In September alone, more than 260,000 migrants crossed into the US setting a new monthly record that rivals the population of citizens living in St. Petersburg, Fla.
In an effort to quell the overwhelming rush and discourage more people from entering the country border agents have placed a second length of razor wire on Mexico’s side of the Rio Grande. 4 A young girl cheers as adults crawl under razor wire at the US border.NYPJ 4 One man throws his arms up in celebration.NYPJ 4 More than 260,000 migrants crossed into the US in September alone, setting a new monthly record. The drone video also shows authorities from the Texas National Guard stationed along holes in the fortress, forcing migrants back through the razor wire before they can establish a foothold in the US.
Officers were also seen in the footage using their pickup trucks to kick dust up along the razor wire to further dissuade migrants from crawling beneath it.
The immense surge of migrants into El Paso more than 2,000 per day has overwhelmed border control, who have been forced to release migrants into the streets due to insufficient resources. 4 A member of the Texas National Guard appears to use swift acceleration to create a dust cloud as migrants try to crawl under razor wire.NYPJ
The Biden administration announced this week a plan to build a new wall along the southern border in Texas by waiving more than a dozen federal laws.
In a stark reversal of its previous stance on the barrier wall, the administration said it would plan construction in areas that have high illegal entry.”
There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas, Secretary of Home Security Alejandro Mayorkas said in a notice posted on the US Federal Registry.
