Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper is said to be in “a very serious condition” after reportedly suffering a heart attack.
Draper, a former political adviser, contracted COVID-19 during the pandemic, leaving him with extensive damage to his organs and needing daily care.
Garraway’s co-stars on ITV’s Good Morning Britain offered messages of support during Monday’s episode, with Charlotte Hawkins saying Draper is “sadly in a very serious condition at the moment”.
Co-host Richard Madeley said: “We just want to let Derek, Kate and of course the whole family know we are all here thinking of them, and we know many of you are as well, and that all of us send them our very, very best wishes at what is a very, very difficult time.”
Hawkins added: “It is indeed. Lots of love from all of us.”
Garraway has won National Television Awards for her documentaries about her husband’s condition.
Draper is said to be one of the country’s longest-suffering COVID patients after being in hospital for 13 months with the condition.
