A 16-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man have died after a car crashed and became submerged in water.

Police said the collision – reported at 1.33pm on Saturday – happened when the blue Mercedes left the road at Tetney Lock Road in Tetney, Lincolnshire.

Officers, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, and East Midlands Ambulance Service crews were all sent to the incident.

The pair were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers, Lincolnshire Police said.

At this stage, it is not believed any other vehicles were involved.

Diversions were put in place at Tetney Lock Road junction with Hoop End and at the junction with New Delights, before the road opened at around 3am.
