A 13-year-old boy who died after a road crash will be “missed beyond measure”, his family has said.
Kaylan Hippsley, from Hirwaun in Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales, died in hospital following a collision on Thursday 29 February.
Emergency services were called at 6.25pm that day following an incident in Hirwaun involving a brown Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian, police said.
In a statement, Kaylan’s family described him as “a cheeky chappie” who “always had a twinkle in his eye”.
They said he was a “talented rugby and football player” who “loved online gaming”.
“He was a bright, intelligent boy and a much-loved pupil in Aberdare Community School,” they added.
“He loved spending time with his family and had a great group of friends.”
The “devastated” family also thanked emergency services and medical staff who cared for Kaylan, as well as the Hirwaun community.
“Kaylan, your life was a blessing your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure,” they continued.
Harley Whiteman, 19, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Saturday charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was also charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and was remanded in custody.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
