Jordan Montgomery, who was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks in late March amid a soft free agent market, has dropped Scott Boras as his agent and signed new representation, sources told ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel on Thursday.

Montgomery has signed with Wasserman’s Joel Wolfe and Nick Chanock, sources told ESPN.

The left-hander finalized a $25 million, one-year deal with the Diamondbacks on March 28. It includes a vesting option for 2025. Montgomery entered free agency amid expectations that he could get a multi-year deal worth more than $20 million per season.

Boras negotiated several similar short-term deals for his top free agents late into free agency.

Former MVP Cody Bellinger re-signed with the Cubs on an $80 million, three-year deal in late February. Four-time Gold Glove third baseman Matt Chapman signed a $54 million, three-year deal with the Giants on March 3. Two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell inked a $62 million, two-year deal, also with the Giants, on March 19.
