More automakers are offering steep discounts on electric vehicle models. Kia and Genesis are two of the latest to slash EV prices with generous deals. The Kia EV9 and several Genesis EVs are now $7,500 off with new discount offers.

Kia and Genesis are offering significant EV discounts

Genesis is rapidly expanding in the US, outpacing most luxury brands with sleek all-electric vehicles. The brand launched its first EV in the US, the EV60, in May 2022, and sales have been soaring since.

Since then, the brand has added the Electrified GV70 SUV and G80 sedan to its EV lineup. As one of the first automakers to commit to an all-electric future, Genesis is already seeing the results.

According to Cox Automotive, Genesis sold 6,403 electric vehicles in the US last year, showing 283% growth over 2022. That’s more than Lexus and Lucid.

On the other hand, Kia is looking to revamp sales with a new design and branding. The automaker introduced its first three-row electric SUV, the EV9, which landed in the US late last year.

Starting under $55,000 (excluding destination), Kia calls the EV9’s starting price a “wake-up call” to the industry. The EV9 is already seeing demand, with over 4,000 units sold through the first three months of 2024.

Although Kia expects the EV9 will qualify for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, it may not be until next year.

Kia is shipping the EV9 from Korea until production begins (expected next month) at its West Point, GA, plant.

Until then, Kia is offering a $7,500 rebate on EV9 purchases to level the playing field. With that, the 2024 Kia EV9 can be bought for as low as $48,895, including destination.

Kia isn’t the only one offering big rebates. Genesis is slashing EV prices with a $7,500 rebate of its own.

The 2024 Genesis GV60 and GV70 Electrified are now eligible for $7,500 in Retail Bonus Cash. And that’s for purchase, not a lease. According to online auto research firm CarsDirect, this is the largest incentive for these models to date.

With the discount, the cheapest GV60 price starts at just $45,850 (including destination), while the GV70 Electrified starts at $60,300.

Although the 2024 G80 Electrified is not eligible, Genesis did add a new entry-level Advanced trim with prices starting at $5,380 less than the previous model year.

The price cuts come as many automakers, including BMW, Tesla, Hyundai, Ford, and several others, are making the same move.
