The majority of households are worried about the rising cost of shopping despite slowing price rises, according to industry data.
Kantar Worldpanel – which tracks supermarket till prices, sales and market share – said its measure of grocery inflation slowed to 1.7% in August.
It means grocery prices are still rising just less than the 1.8% seen in July – the first rise in more than a year – butmore than the four weeks running up to early July.
Tesco remained the UK’s most shopped at supermarket, Kantar data showed, followed by Sainsbury’s and Asda despite it seeing a 5.6% drop in market share. It’s the biggest drop of all retailers.
