The Audi A6 follows the introduction of the German automaker’s Q6, which was the first EV in its lineup to use the new PPE platform co-developed with Porsche.
As we noted after testing the Q6 for the first time, it does feel like an important step change for Audi. The PPE, which supports both the Q6 and now the A6, sort of represents Audi’s third-generation EVs.
The knowledge accumulated from the e-tron, Q4, and Q8, results in significant improvements in efficiency, range, and an overall improved electric powertrain, all while maintaining the characteristics Audi is known for with increasingly fewer compromises.
Audi A6 entry-level versions
Today, Audi is announcing the new entry-level A6 and starting to take orders for them in Europe:
Two further variants are now available to order: a more affordable A6 e-tron with rear-wheel drive and a smaller battery, which has a total gross capacity of 83 kWh (75.8 kWh net), as well as another model with quattro all-wheel drive and a larger battery capacity of 100 kWh (94.9 kWh net).

Electrek’s Take
I’ve already test drove the Audi Q6 earlier this year and I came out of the experience impressed. It’s undoubtedly Audi’s best EV yet, which is why I’m interested to see what they could do with it in a sedan format, which is basically what the A6 is, to a degree, and aside from the Avant.
I am going to be testing the Audi A6 in Europe next month so I don’t have to wait long to experience it.
