Volvo’s “game-changing” electric SUV will now reach US buyers by the end of 2024. With strong demand, Volvo is fast-tracking EX30 deliveries. Pre-order customers will now get their new EVs ahead of schedule.

Despite several delays, Volvo’s cheapest and smallest EV is en route to customers in the US. Volvo announced it would start fulfilling EX30 pre-orders this year to meet demand as quickly as possible.

After seeing “strong consumer demand,” Volvo US is prioritizing the most popular model: the EX30 Twin Motor Performance.

The Twin Motor EX30, which starts at $44,900, is available with Plus or Ultra upgrades. Volvo said the Single Motor variant, starting at $34,950, will arrive in the US later next year.

With 422 hp, the EX30 Twin Motor Performance is Volvo’s quickest vehicle yet, with a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds. Volvo’s Single Motor EX30 has a range of up to 275 miles, while the Twin Motor Performance model gets slightly less at 253 miles.

With a charging capacity of up to 153 kW, Volvo’s EX30 can be charged from 10% to 80% in just over 25 minutes.

Volvo EX30 is coming to the US by the end of 2024

Earlier this year, Volvo informed pre-order holders it was delaying the EX30 until 2025 “due to changes in the global landscape.”

The delay came after the US announced a new 100% tariff on EV imports from China, where the EX30 is built. Volvo said it would accelerate production at its Ghent, Belgium plant to overcome the additional charges.

Even with the low starting price, the EX30 is loaded with the tech and safety features expected from Volvo.

The EX30 features a 12.3″ tablet-style center infotainment and driver display with built-in Google and wireless Apple CarPlay support.

Volvo Cars US and Canada president Mike Cottone said, “Volvo has been and always will be about people, which is why we worked hard to make the Volvo EX30 available sooner than anticipated for our customers.”

Cottone added that the electric SUV “has proved exceptionally popular in other markets,” as US buyers have waited patiently.

In September, the EX30 was Volvo’s third best-selling vehicle globally, behind the XC60 and XC40/EX40 models. In August, it was Europe’s second best-selling EV, behind Tesla’s Model Y.

At the end of September, Volvo announced it had already produced its 100,000th EX30 model, as demand for the model continues to grow globally.
