Toyota isn’t exactly known for its head-turning designs, but its electric SUV is getting a new variant. After Toyota’s bZ4X was spotted in the US with off-road upgrades and a matte green finish, are we finally about to see the new model?

Toyota’s bZ4X gains rugged design and matte green color

Although Toyota began delivering bZ4X models in 2022, the electric SUV has failed to gain much traction in the US.

Through the first nine months of 2024, Toyota bZ4X sales reached 13,577 in the US. Although that’s more than double the nearly 6,500 sold through November 2023, it’s still far from gas and hybrid models like the RAV4, which has over 350,000 sales already this year.

To make the 2025 bZ4X SUV more competitive, Toyota slashed its prices by up to $6,000 compared to the outgoing model.

The 2025 Toyota bZ4X starts at just $37,070. Toyota also introduced a new Nightshade edition, which will be its first EV to receive the upgrade.

Built on the XLE trim, the Nightshade model has standard AWD and design upgrades such as 20-inch wheels, black exterior accents, and red interior stitching.

The Toyota bZ4X Nightshade edition will be available in single or two-tone exterior designs. Does that include matte green?

Toyota’s bZ4X was recently spotted outside its Toyota LA regional office, flaunting new off-road elements and a stylish matte green finish. The latest images from Kindelauto reveal what could be the new Nightshade trim.

However, Toyota said the new edition would be available in Wind Chill Pearl or Heavy Metal and black roof color combos. Or, you could opt for the stealthy all-black exterior, but still no mention of a matte green. Perhaps more custom options are coming. Or, it could just be another show car.
