Western society is without a doubt experiencing a monumental identity crisis.

At the center of the problem, Nick Vujicic recently explained to CBN’s Faithwire, is a lack of understanding of God and how He made human beings, male and female, in His likeness.

“When you actually understand the image of God … if we can come back to that simple truth and the root is you were made in the image of God and God made male and female,” he said. “If you’ve got a penis, you’re a male period.”

“We’ve got to understand how God has made us who we are,” Vujicic continued. “He loves us; He’s got a plan for us. Let’s get back to the basis of such.”

Vujicic was referring to biblical passages like Genesis 1:27, which reads, “So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them” (NLT).

The Christian author’s comments come as many on the left continue to push for the embrace of transgender-related treatments, specifically on minors.

Last October, Dr. Rachel Levine, assistant secretary of President Joe Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services, described “gender-affirming care” for minors as “safe [and] medically necessary.”

“Accredited medical professional groups agree that gender-affirming care is medically necessary, safe, and effective for trans and non-binary youth,” Levine wrote on X.

Levine further claimed there “is no argument among medical professionals” about the safety of transgender treatments such as irreversible, body-altering surgeries and hormone therapies for children.

More recently, in March, Levine said transgender procedures for minors has the “highest support” from the Biden administration and claimed society writ large will soon embrace such treatments for kids.

Secular society is pushing ahead full-steam on this issue. As CBN News reported, chest surgeries that is, procedures females who identify as males undergo to remove their breasts increased nearly 390% from 2016 to 2019.

Some studies, however, have shown the exact opposite of Levine’s claims: they have found transgender procedures are, in fact, quite harmful. One analysis from the University of Hamburg Medical Center, for example, found “transgender and gender diverse people who have undergone gender reassignment surgery feel lonelier.”

Vujicic argued Christians need to be bolder in standing up for biblical truth on sexual matters.

“That’s exactly what we’re dealing with here in Gen Z: ‘I’m gonna feel good today, depending on what you think of me and, if you don’t like me, that’s cool. I’ve got some friends that like me the way I am. They love me,’” he said. “They love you? If they really loved you, and LGBT [lifestyles are] a sin, they would lovingly tell you that … you cannot be comfortable in that sin. You must walk away from sin.”

UK economy continued to flatline in July recording no growth as Labour came to power - ONS

There was no growth in the UK economy in July, official figures show.

It’s the second month of stagnation, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said as GDP – the measure of everything produced in the UK – flatlined in the weeks following the election of the Labour government.

The flatline was not expected by economists, who had anticipated growth.

Economists polled by the Reuters news agency forecast the economy would expand by 0.2%.

Some signs of growth

But there’s “longer-term strength” in the services sector meaning there was growth over the last three months as a whole and 0.5% expansion in the three months up to July.

Among the G7 group of industrialised nations, the UK had the highest growth rate for the first six months of 2024.

Why stagnation?

While there was growth in the services sector, led by computer programmers and the end of strikes in health, these gains were offset by falls for advertising companies, architects and engineers.

Manufacturing output fell overall due to “a particularly poor month for car and machinery firms”, the ONS said, while construction also declined.

What will it mean for interest rates?

Market expectations are for interest rates to remain unchanged by the Bank of England when they meet next week to consider their next move in the fight against inflation.

The central bank had raised the rate and made borrowing more expensive to reduce inflation.

A cut in November, at the next meeting of rate-setters, is expected. Rates are forecast to be brought down to 4.75% at that point.

Political reaction

In response to the figures Chancellor Rachel Reeves said:

“I am under no illusion about the scale of the challenge we face and I will be honest with the British people that change will not happen overnight. Two-quarters of positive economic growth does not make up for 14 years of stagnation.

“That is why we are taking the long-term decisions now to fix the foundations of our economy.”
