Will the Range Rover Electric be “the most capable electric luxury SUV” to hit the market? That’s what the company is promising. As final testing wraps up, Range Rover’s first EV is already outperforming the iconic gas-powered model. Here’s our best look yet at the luxury electric SUV.

The most capable electric luxury SUV?

Known for its signature luxury design and unrivaled capabilities, Range Rover is preparing for a new era. With its first electric SUV about to hit showrooms, Range Rover is putting the flagship model through the paces.

Prototypes are currently undergoing “the most intensive testing any Range Rover vehicle has ever endured” in the United Arab Emirates. According to Range Rover, its first EV is already surpassing expectations.

The SUV endured Range Rover’s most grueling hot-weather testing, with “merciless temperatures” of up to 122F (50C) and 90% humidity. Despite the extreme conditions, the Range Rover Electric “delivered impressive results, surpassing the thermal testing performance recorded of any Range Rover vehicle on sand.”

According to Thomas Müller, Range Rover’s executive director of product engineering, the EV is even outperforming its iconic gas-powered models. Müller said:

Our tests have shown that in this climate, repeatedly driving the equivalent of 328 feet (100 meters) uphill on fine sand, Range Rover Electric matches the performance of its ICE equivalents; in some instances, even surpassing them.

The added performance is due to new traction control and thermal management systems specifically engineered for the electric model.

Range Rover’s first luxury EV outperforms during testing

Range Rover’s new Intelligent Torque Management system feeds power to each individual electric drive control. The company claims its new tech reduces torque reaction time at each wheel from around 100 milliseconds to as little as 1 millisecond.

The electric SUV tackled the 300-foot “Big Red” dune in the heart of Sharjah’s Al Badayer desert, completing the feat “with flying colours.”

Range Rover’s first EV will finally hit showrooms in 2025. Ahead of its official debut, the company continues to “refine and craft the epitome of Range Rover luxury.”

At the end of October, the Range Rover Electric had over 48,000 clients on the waitlist. Range Rover said its new in-house electric powertrain will help push the brand to “exceed its already renowned performance on low-grip surfaces, ensuring all-terrain, all-weather, and all-surface capability.”

It looks like the SUV is already living up to its promise. With an expected wading depth of 33.8″ (850 mm), Range Rover’s first EV can wade through deeper water than the monstrous GMC Hummer EV at 32″.

Range Rover is expected to launch a smaller Sport model following the flagship luxury electric SUV. With its debut around the corner, the Range Rover Sport EV was caught testing at the Nurburgring (see the video here).

After that, another compact electric SUV, likely the Range Rover Velar, will hit the market. The expected Velar EV was also recently spotted on a transporter near JLR’s Nurburgring test facility.

Hyundai channels its inner Iron Man with new wearable robot 'X-ble Shoulder' tech

Hyundai’s latest creation looks like something straight out of an Iron Man movie. Designed to boost strength and reduce injuries, Hyundai and Kia unveiled the new wearable robot tech for the first time. The first of a new series, “X-ble Shoulder,” is now available for consultation in Korea, with deliveries planned for the first half of 2025. For those in the US and Europe, don’t worry. Following its domestic launch, Hyundai plans to introduce its newest innovation overseas.

Hyundai and Kia stunned the crowd this week when they introduced the new creation for the first time at their “Wearable Robot Tech Day.”

The first of a new series of wearable robot technology, the so-called “X-ble Shoulder,” can increase worker efficiency while limiting injuries. Just by wearing it, Hyundai said it can reduce shoulder load by 60% and muscle activity by 30%.

When used for overhead work, like under the vehicle, the X-ble Shoulder can increase workers’ upper arm muscle strength while reducing strain on the musculoskeletal system.

“The X-ble Shoulder is a wearable robot that leverages the technical capabilities of the Robotics LAB and implements feedback from actual users,” Dong Jin Hyun,” head of Hyundai and Kia’s Robotics Lab, explained at the event.

It will be offered in two versions: basic and adjustable. The basic is designed for situations where more movement is involved, offering up to roughly 6.4 lbs (2.9 kg) of assistive force.

Built for repetitive tasks, the adjustable model enables you to set up an angle for maximum torque, providing up to about 8.1 lbs (3.7 kg) of assistance.

Hyundai said the new tech has a wide range of uses in auto, aviation, agriculture, construction, logistics, shipbuilding, and other industries.

Interested domestic companies can already inquire and receive a consultation through Hyundai and Kia’s Robotics Lab website. The Robotics Lab will first supply the new wearable robot shoulder to Hyundai and Kia’s production divisions.

In 2025, the new technology will be expanded to 27 Hyundai Motor Group affiliates and companies in other fields, such as constriction and shipbuilding. Deliveries are scheduled for the first half of 2025.

Hyundai plans to introduce the new wearable robot tech to overseas markets, including the US and Europe, in 2026. The company said the launch date will be based on domestic sales.

It will be the first of a new product lineup of wearable robots. The X-ble branding combines “X,” which symbolizes limitless potential, with “able,” suggesting anything is possible.

In addition to the X-ble Shoulder, Hyundai is developing the “X-ble Waist,” designed to help when lifting heavy loads. The Robotics Lab also aims to launch a medical wearable robot, “X-ble MEX,” to assist with walking rehabilitation.

According to Motor Intelligence, the Wearable Robots and Exoskeletons Market is expected to reach $10.25 billion by 2029, up from just $2.55 billion in 2024. Hyundai and Kia’s Robotics Lab looks to secure its spot as an industry leader.

Lectric’s Black Friday sale takes up to $781 off e-bike bundles from $999 and tons of bonus deals

One noticeable stand out right off the bat is the ONE Long-Range e-bike that is getting $467 in free gear at $2,199 shipped. This is the largest bundle package that we have seen on this e-bike to date, making it the best deal yet to score it for your commute, complete with a rear cargo rack, a pair of fenders, two waterproof pannier bags, and a 4L storage bag that stows away right in the frame.
