Michael Mosley: Co-presenter reveals TV doctor saved woman’s life
Presenter Dr Hannah Fry has paid tribute to her ‘modest’ colleague Michael Mosley, revealing he once saved the life of a woman.
Dr Fry – who co-presented The Great British Intelligence Test and a Coronavirus Special alongside Mosley – spoke about his “extraordinary” actions on The One Show.
She lent her voice to the host of celebrities who have paid tribute to the TV doctor, who was found dead on the Greek island of Symi four days after he went missing.
The body of the 67-year-old, who was a familiar face thanks to his regular appearances on TV programmes including The One Show, was found close to a cave complex beside Agia Marina around 10m from the sea.
Foul play has been ruled out by local police, who say there were no signs of injury and CCTV footage clearly showed no one was with him when he appeared to fall close to where his body was found.

Speaking on The One Show Dr Fry said: “There was this rumour going around that once Michael had saved somebody’s life in the office.
“I went and approached him about. I was like, ‘Tell me, is this true?’ And he sort of brushed it off, but it was completely true. Somebody collapsed in the BBC offices, in the corridors, and he saw them collapse.
“He went over and performed CPR on them for half an hour until the emergency services arrived and saved her life.
“She’s gone on to have two children. I mean, this extraordinary thing… You know, if it was me, I think I’d be introducing myself and first thing I’d say is, ‘Did you know I saved someone’s life?’ but for Michael, it was just part of it.”

The One Show presenter Alex Jones also shared her own tribute to Mosley – who first appeared on the BBC flagship show in 2007 – saying he will be “sorely missed”.
Jones said: “His death has been felt by millions of people all around the world who regarded him as their doctor.
“He was a super generous man. Even when he’d come on here in my early days when I was a bit shy, you always felt in such safe hands and he was so generous with tips and tricks, anything you wanted to talk about.”

Mosley’s widow, Dr Clare Bailey Mosely, paid tribute to her husband on Sunday, saying it was a comfort to the family he “very nearly made it” to safety.
She said Mosley – who went missing on Wednesday after leaving his wife and friends at Agios Nikolaos beach to walk back to their hotel – appeared to have undertaken an “incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen” by search and rescue teams.
His body was discovered by a cameraman on Sunday morning after a widespread search by emergency services operating in dangerous conditions and high temperatures.

The Life of Showgirl, written during the European leg of her record-breaking Eras tour, will be released on 3 October.
It consists of 12 songs, including the title track that features pop star Sabrina Carpenter.

Within four hours of posting the full podcast episode on YouTube, it had already gathered 4.7m views.

‘The hardest-working star in pop’
The album follows last year’s The Tortured Poets Department, which was released during the Eras tour.
That tour, with shows on five continents and in 51 cities, raked in more than $2.2bn (£1.62bn) and was the highest-grossing tour of all time.

“This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,” Swift said during her podcast appearance.
Sky News culture and entertainment reporter Gemma Peplow said after her globe-trotting tour and a swathe of re-releases over recent years, the new album cemented Swift’s reputation “as the hardest-working star in pop”.
Disgraced US film producer Harvey Weinstein is to be tried for a third time in a sexual assault case.
A jury in New York could not reach a verdict in June against the 73-year-old who was accused of raping actress Jessica Mann, and a mistrial was declared.
Judge Curtis Farber has said he wants the new trial to happen before the end of this year.
The same jury found Weinstein guilty in June of sexually assaulting former Project Runway production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006 and not guilty of assaulting Polish former runway model Kaja Sokola the same year.
Weinstein will be sentenced for the guilty verdict in Ms Haley’s case on 30 September.
He denied all of the charges. Throughout the retrial, his lawyers insisted the sexual encounters with his three accusers were “transactional” and “consensual,” and labelled the women as opportunists.
Weinstein was originally convicted of rape and criminal sexual act by the same court in 2020 and sentenced to 23 years in prison for the crimes.
Last year, however, New York’s highest court overturned the conviction, prompting Weinstein’s retrial this summer.
Weinstein was once one of the most powerful people in Hollywood – the co-founder of film and television production companies Miramax and The Weinstein Company, who produced films such as the Oscar-winning Shakespeare In Love, Pulp Fiction, and The Crying Game.

In 2017, a series of sexual misconduct allegations against him propelled the #MeToo movement.
Some of those accusations later led to criminal charges and his convictions in New York and California.
Before the retrial, Weinstein was also serving a 16-year prison sentence after being found guilty of rape in California in December 2022. He has also denied this charge.
