Executives from TravelCenters America (TA) and BP were joined by local elected officials at a ribbon cutting for the two companies’ first DC fast charging hub on I-95 in Jacksonville, Florida – the first of several such EV charging stations to come online.
Frequent road-trippers are no doubt familiar with TA’s red, white, and blue logo and probably think of the sites as safe, convenient stops in otherwise unfamiliar surroundings. The company hopes those positive associations will carry over as its customers continue to switch from gas to electric at a record pace in 2025 and beyond.
“Today marks a significant milestone in our journey to bring new forms of energy to our customers as we support their changing mobility needs, while leveraging the best of bp and TA,” explains Debi Boffa, CEO of TravelCenters of America. Boffa, however, was quick to – but TA is quick to point out that TA isn’ no’t leaving its ICE customers behind. “While this is significant, to our loyal customers and guests, rest assured TA will continue to provide the same safe and reliable fueling options it has offered for over 50 years, regardless of the type of fuel.”
The charging hub along the I-95 offers 12 DC fast charging ports offering up to 400kW of power for lickety-quick charging. While they’re at the TA, EV drivers can visit restrooms, shop at TA’s convenience store, or eat at fast food chains like Popeyes and Subway. Other TA centers offer wifi and pet-friendly amenities as well – making them ideal partners for BP as the two companies builds out their charging networks.
“As we expand our EV charging network in the US, I am thrilled to unveil our first of many hubs at TA locations,” offers Sujay Sharma, CEO of BP Pulse Americas. “These sites are strategically located across key highway corridors that provide our customers with en route charging when and where they need it most, while offering convenient amenities, like restaurants and restrooms.”
Genesis is officially killing off its gas and diesel-powered vehicles in the UK to become “a fully electrified brand” in 2025. Once current gas models are sold, Genesis will only sell EVs in the UK — at least until new hybrids join the lineup.
Genesis UK drops gas cars for EVs and hybrids
The luxury automaker launched its first vehicle in the UK in 2021. Since then, Genesis has made clear its plans to become a leading premium EV brand.
Although initial plans called for all new Genesis vehicles to be fully electric by 2025, the company confirmed it would introduce new hybrids.
Genesis already offers three EVs in the UK: the GV60, the Electrified G80 sedan, and the Electrified GV70 SUV. All three models have been updated with revamped interiors, more driving range, added features, and improved styling.
Once the current gas and diesel-powered G70 saloon, G70 Shooting Brake, GV70, and GV80 models are sold this year (some already are), Genesis will only sell EVs in the UK.
Genesis will introduce new all-electric models in the coming years, including its first high-performance EV, the GGV60 Magma. The luxury brand said its lineup “will be enhanced with hybrid tech.”
According to Auto Express, hybrids are not expected to launch until 2027. The GV70 and G80 would likely be candidates for a hybrid variant. Genesis could use new plug-in hybrid tech from the new Hyundai Sante Fe, the luxury brand’s parent company.
Electric vehicles accounted for about 80% of Genesis sales last year. The GV60, its first dedicated EV based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, was the top seller, followed by the Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80.
Genesis said the new EVs and hybrid models will be tailored for European customers as it expands beyond its current UK, German, and Swiss businesses.”

A new Honda EV for under $30,000? That’s the plan. And it could come as soon as next year. Honda plans to build the new electric car in the US as part of its new Honda 0 Series EV lineup. Here’s what we know so far.
Is Honda launching an EV for $30,000 in the US?
After a strong sales year in the US, Honda is aiming for a bigger share in its most important market, which accounts for roughly a third of the Japanese automaker’s sales.
After a slow start, Honda is looking to catch up in the EV market. Although sales of its first electric SUV, the Prologue, surged last year after deliveries began in March, Honda is launching an entire new lineup of EVs soon.
The Prologue is based on GM’s Ultium platform, which also underpins new electric Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC models.
According to Nikkei, Honda plans to launch a smaller EV priced under $30,000 in the US as early as 2026. It will be made locally, starting with the batteries, to cut costs. The new EV is expected to be the entry-level model for its upcoming Honda 0 Series. It will be a cornerstone for Honda’s global expansion.
Honda showcased two concepts from the lineup, an SUV and a Sedan, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) last month.
The report claims Honda will build the $30,000 EV in Ohio. It will be one of seven new models in the lineup that will arrive by 2030.
Honda’s plan to launch a low-cost EV comes as US President Trump plans to end federal EV subsidies and other programs designed to accelerate adoption. He is also threatening new tariffs on key trade partners like Mexico, Canada, and Europe.
The smaller EV will arrive after the SUV and sedan, which are expected to cost around $50,000 to $60,000. Honda is expected to begin production later this year.
Honda expects the new 0 Series lineup to accelerate EV sales. By 2040, it aims for EVs and FCEVs to account for 100% of new car sales.
Electrek’s Take
At under $30,000, Honda’s new EV would be cheaper than most gas-powered cars, giving it a significant advantage.
Several other automakers like Ford, GM, Tesla, and Rivian are also planning to launch smaller, lower-cost EV models, so it could face more competition by then.
Either way, it would likely be a hot seller. Honda sold over 33,000 Prologue SUVs in the US last year after deliveries began in March. Honda’s electric SUV outsold the Chevy Equinox (28,874), Cadillac Lyriq (28,402), and Chevy Blazer EV, and it’s based on the same platform.
Although GM discontinued its iconic Bolt EV, the smaller electric car is due to make a comeback in 2026. The new Bolt will be a part of a “family of Bolts,” according to GM President Mark Reuss. It’s also expected to start at around $30,000 or less.
Will Honda’s new EV compete with the next-gen Chevy Bolt EV? Or will it be based on it? GM is also in talks with Hyundai about rebadging EVs and selling them in the US. Stay tuned for more. We’ll keep you updated with the latest.

It delivers juice to your devices and appliances at up to 9,000W when surging (6,000W normally) through its 15+ output options – which include dedicated hook-ups for your RV, EV, and even your home’s circuit breaker (though this last option requires a Home Backup Kit for sectional support or the newer Home Power Panel for whole-home coverage, as well as connections with your roof panels). Alongside the typical AC input for charging, you can also connect up to a 2,400W solar input, which refills 80% of the battery in 1.5 hours.

Heybike brings its Cityrun urban commuter e-bike to $999 low in Valentine’s sale
Heybike has switched from New Year savings to its Valentine’s Day sale through February 5, with up to $600 in e-bike discounts and some free gear too. While many of the previous sale’s deals are just being extended, like the Mars 2.0 e-bike at $999 or the Ranger S e-bike at $1,099, there is one changeup, with the Cityrun Urban Commuter e-bike dropping to $999 shipped this time around. Carrying a $1,599 price tag when at full, it kept at $1,099 during its most recent sale after spending Black Friday and Christmas sales down at the $999 low, which is returning for the first time in 2025 here today. It’s a solid $600 in savings at the all-time lowest price we have tracked – plus, you’ll also be getting a free large basket while things last too.
Heybike’s Cityrun commuter e-bike arrives sporting a 500W brushless geared hub motor (peaking at 1,000W) and a large 720Wh battery that propels the model up to top speeds of 21 MPH with a 55-mile max travel range on one full four-hour charge (achieved thanks to the higher-power 4A charger). There are three levels of pedal assistance here supported by a torque sensor, which is nice to see, and it comes with some impressive features for its price range, with the usual cheaper options we see, like mechanical disc brakes, instead replaced by hydraulic disc brakes on top of the hydraulic suspension front fork too.
There’s also the 7-speed Shimano derailleur, 26-inch by 2.5-inch tires with fenders over each, an automatic LED headlight and taillight with turn signals, a rear cargo rack, and a smart LCD display. While it does weigh in a bit hefty at 62 pounds, for the price it is a well-stocked option that won’t weigh so heavily on your wallet while providing a solid commuting solution for your daily life.
Anker’s PowerCore Reserve power bank station provides 60,000mAh capacity in a five-pound unit from $103
Anker’s official Amazon storefront is offering its PowerCore Reserve 60,000mAh Power Bank Station in the green colorway for $103 shipped, after clipping the on-page $10 off coupon, while its gray colorway is down at $109.99 shipped. Usually carrying a $150 price tag, we’ve been seeing more frequent discounts since Black Friday that have kept rates from returning to the MSRP, which include occasional dips lower to $100 and the $90 low. Today, while it may not be the all-time lowest rate, this is still a solid $47 in savings and the third-lowest price we have tracked. It even beats out Anker’s direct website where it’s discounted to $130.
Anker’s PowerCore Reserve is a great option for anyone looking to carry a bigger backup power solution through their daily schedules, but it weighs in at a little over five pounds, so it’s not a massive burden and easily fits inside bags. You’ll get a 60,000mAh/192Wh capacity here, with the unit delivering up to 60W charging speeds through its two USB-C ports and two USB-A ports. There is an integrated pop-up light featured on its crown, with two brightness levels and an S.O.S button in times of emergency. Recharging the station’s own battery can be achieved via a wall outlet or by connecting a 60W solar panel.

Amazon has a Lightning deal right now on Worx’s Nitro 40V Power Share PRO LEAFJET Cordless Leaf Blower with two 4.0Ah batteries for $167 shipped. If you act before the limited units are sold, you’ll be saving a solid $83 off the going rate at the third-lowest price we have tracked.
Whether you’re living in a warmer year-round climate or stocking up to tackle yard duties after the snow clears away, Worx’s Nitro Power Share PRO LEAFJET makes a great addition to your arsenal. It clears out debris with up to 620 CFM of airflow (hitting 165 MPH speeds) that Worx attests to being “40% more than its previous model,” which is also benefitting from its own discount below.
