NEW YORK – Four Mega Millions tickets in New York matched five of the white balls drawn Friday night, winning the prize of $1 million. Winning Numbers

The lucky combination of numbers drawn were: 30, 43, 45, 46, 61 and gold Mega Ball 14. Other Winners

There were more than 7 million winning tickets across nine prize tiers Friday. Beyond Maine’s jackpot, 14 tickets matched five white balls to claim the second-tier prize of $1 million. Four were sold in New York, two in California and one each in Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Texas, Mega Millions said.

Maine scored its first Mega Millions jackpot — and someone beat the ill fortune of Friday the 13th — when a ticket purchased in the state matched the winning numbers for the lottery’s estimated $1.35 billion grand prize.

The winner, whose name is not yet known, overcame steep odds of 1 in 302.6 million, which led to three months of drawings without a claim on the jackpot.

The jackpot was the second largest in Mega Millions history and the fourth time the game has had a billion-dollar win. The largest Mega Millions jackpot in October 2018 was $1.53 billion claimed by a single ticket holder in South Carolina.

Friday’s prosperous drawing also marked the seventh time there was a grand prize winner on Friday the 13th, a date superstitiously considered unlucky.

To claim the full $1.35 billion, the winner would need to take the money in an annuity with annual payments over 29 years. Most jackpot recipients prefer the reduced but quicker cash option, which for Friday night’s drawing was an estimated $724.6 million. What’s Next?

The next grand prize drawing on Tuesday will drop to an estimated $20 million and a cash option of $10.7 million.

Until Friday night, there had been 25 straight drawings without a jackpot winner.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Criminology student Nasen Saadi guilty of murder after stabbing woman 10 times on Bournemouth beach

A criminology student has been found guilty of the murder and attempted murder of two women on a beach in Bournemouth.

Nasen Saadi, 20, from Croydon, fatally stabbed personal trainer Amie Gray, 34, 10 times as she sat beside a fire on Durley Chine Beach in Dorset on the evening of 24 May.

Her friend Leanne Miles, who was sitting next to her on the beach, suffered 20 knife injuries but survived the attack.

Following the verdict at Winchester Crown Court, Mrs Gray’s wife, Sian, thanked police and the emergency services for helping her and bringing “the justice that she deserves”.

She said in a statement: “Amie will never be forgotten. She touched the lives of so many. The immense support and love shown by everyone, reflects just that.

“Amie’s life has been brutally taken but now she can rest in peace. Her strength lives on in all of us.”

The trial heard how Saadi, who was studying criminology at Greenwich University in London, was asked by one of his lecturers: “You’re not planning a murder, are you?”

He had asked teachers questions about self-defence for murder and how long DNA stays behind.

Saadi told detectives he had an interest in true crime, unsolved cases and horror movies.

It can now be reported Saadi touched himself while in his prison cell ahead of the trial after he asked a female prison officer how much publicity the case was getting.

Sarah Jones KC, prosecuting, had argued in court the jury should hear this account as it provided a possible motive for the attack but the judge ruled it was prejudicial so could not be used as evidence.

And in February an allegation of stalking was made against Saadi, which led the Metropolitan Police to refer itself to the police watchdog over its handling of the incident.

During the trial, the jury heard how in the days leading up to the attack Saadi had checked into a Travelodge in Bournemouth before moving to a different hotel.

He went to a cinema to watch The Strangers – Chapter 1, described by the prosecution as a slasher movie where the male and female leads both get stabbed.

Ms Jones said: “It suggests, doesn’t it, that the defendant gravitated to what he likes to watch or sought inspiration or encouragement from what he saw.”

The jury was shown CCTV footage which the prosecution said showed Saadi walking along the beach promenade.

A CCTV grab dated 21/05/24 taken from footage issued by the Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) of Nasen Saadi walking along Durley Chine Beach in Bournemouth, and a map of the location underneath. Saadi, 20, is on trial at Winchester Crown Court, charged with the murder of 34-year-old physical trainer Amie Gray at Durley Chine Beach, West Undercliff Promenade, on May 24, and the attempted murder of 39-year-old Leanne Miles at the same location. Issue date: Tuesday December 10, 2024.

A CCTV audio recording was also played for the jury of screaming and a male voice at around 11.39pm – the time of the attack.

Ms Jones told the jury Saadi left the victims on the sand “to bleed to death” while he moved away and tried to disappear “back into the shadows”.

The judge, Mrs Justice Cutts, adjourned the case for a psychiatric report to be prepared on the defendant before sentencing on 28 March.

She told the defendant: “You have been convicted of the most serious of crimes, there is only one sentence that can follow that verdict of this jury and that is a sentence of imprisonment for life.

“You should be under no illusion, the minimum term in this case will be of considerable length but I need to know more before I make that decision.”

‘I am getting dizzy, please hurry up’

A recording of a 999 call made by Ms Miles was played to the court in which she was heard crying in pain.

The 39-year-old told the operator: “I have been stabbed loads of times. Oh my God, I am getting dizzy, please hurry up, please hurry up.”

She continues: “I am bleeding everywhere, I have been stabbed loads of times.”

The clothes Saadi was wearing during the attack and the weapon used were never recovered.

Defendant claimed he ‘blacked out’

The defendant, who chose not to give evidence, admitted visiting Bournemouth but denied the offences.

He told police he might have “blacked out” and had no memory of the period that included the attacks.

Analysis of Saadi’s laptop showed that since January 2024 there were searches about murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler and her killer Levi Bellfield, as well as Brianna Ghey and her killers.

Saadi used the name “Ninja Killer” for his Snapchat account and also used the username “NSkills” on his computer.

There were also multiple visits to websites selling knives and searches for “why do criminals get away with crimes in rural areas” and “why is it harder for a criminal to get caught if he does it in another town”.

During searches of his bedroom at his aunt’s home where he was living, police found five knives, including a machete and an ornamental knife, as well as a self-defence spray.

Officers also seized a blue Trespass rucksack which contained white latex gloves, two of which were inside out, a black balaclava, a torch and used wet wipes.

In a police interview shown in court, Saadi said: “I am not responsible and I have no reason to attack someone for no reason.”

Asked where he was at the time of the attack, he replied “no comment” and when asked if he was the person in the CCTV footage, he replied: “Beaches are popular places… many people… CCTV shows there were many people walking, it’s not just one person.”

Suggesting a motive for the attack, Ms Jones said: “This defendant seems to have wanted to know what it would be like to take life, perhaps he wanted to know what it would be like to make women feel afraid, perhaps he thought it would make him feel powerful, make him interesting to others.

“Perhaps he just couldn’t bear to see people engaged in a happy, normal social interaction and he decided to lash out, to hurt, to butcher.”

Saadi pleaded guilty to failing to provide his mobile phone code to police.

Cadillac's new Vistiq electric SUV starts at under ,000, but higher trims can get pricey

Cadillac’s new three-row electric SUV is almost here. As the Escalade IQ’s smaller sibling, the Cadillac Vistiq starts at under $80,000, but prices for higher trim options can reach upwards of $100,000.

Cadillac Vistiq electric SUV prices and specs

After introducing the new Vistiq electric SUV last month, we are already learning how much it will cost to get your hands on one.

Cadillac said 2026 Cadillac Vistiq prices would start at $78,790, including the destination fee. That’s for the base Luxury trim. Cadillac’s new electric SUV will also be available in Sport and Premium trims, while a range-topping Platinum model will launch next Summer.

As Car and Driver found on Wednesday, full pricing is now available. The Sport trim will start at $79,290, while prices jump significantly for the Premium and Platinum models at $93,890 and $97,890, respectively.

With options, you can easily spend over $100,000 on the top-of-the-line trims. Meanwhile, its big brother, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, starts at $129,990.

The Vistiq sits between the Lyriq and Escalade IQ in Cadillac’s growing EV lineup. Like the electric Escalade, the mid-size SUV features Cadillac’s new design with an illuminated pinstripe grille.

Powered by a massive 102 kWh battery pack, Cadillac says the Visitiq gets 300 miles of range. It also packs up to 615 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque for a 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.7 seconds. According to Cadillac, the electric SUV can gain 79 miles range in around 10 minutes with a DC fast charger.

Inside, the Vistiq offers all the luxury and premium tech you would expect from a Cadillac. It includes a curved 33″ infotainment and driver display cluster, which sits above an 8″ HVAC control screen.

The standard AWD system is fitted with Road Noise Cancellation tech for an even smoother, quieter drive that EVs are known for.

At 205.6″ long, Cadillac’s new electric SUV is slightly longer than the Rivian R1S, which is 201 ” long but slightly shorter (71″ vs. 77″ tall).

2026 Cadillac Vistiq trim Starting Price
Luxury $78,790
Sport $79,290

Cadillac is expected to begin Vistiq production early next year, with the Luxury, Sport, and Premium trims set to go on sale first.

Sources: Salter gets shot to succeed QB Sanders

Colorado has signed Liberty transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

The Buffaloes are bringing in one of the most accomplished dual-threat quarterbacks in college football to compete for the chance to be Shedeur Sanders‘ successor in 2025. Salter started 29 games for the Flames and earned Conference USA MVP honors in 2023 while leading the program to a 13-1 season.

Salter has one remaining season of eligibility. He will compete with five-star freshman Julian Lewis, the second overall recruit in the 2025 ESPN 300, for the starting role as Colorado looks to replace Sanders, the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and potential first overall draft pick.

Salter has accounted for 6,438 total yards of offense and 66 touchdowns during his two seasons in Liberty coach Jamey Chadwell’s spread option system. He has rushed for 1,676 yards since 2023, second among FBS quarterbacks behind Army‘s Bryson Daily (2,433).

In 2023, Salter led the first perfect regular season in Liberty history while throwing a school-record 32 touchdown passes. The Flames won the Conference USA title in their first season in the league and earned a New Year’s Six bowl bid in the Fiesta Bowl against Oregon. Liberty finished No. 25 in the final AP poll following a 45-6 loss to the Ducks.

Salter threw for 1,886 yards, rushed for 587 yards and scored 22 total touchdowns for the Flames during an 8-3 run this season. The Cedar Hill, Texas, native announced Dec. 2 that he planned to transfer and visited Syracuse before deciding to play for coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes.

After a breakthrough 9-3 season and a No. 23 finish in the College Football Playoff rankings, Colorado is looking to reload its roster via the transfer portal as Sanders and Heisman Trophy-winning two-way star Travis Hunter depart for the NFL.

The Buffaloes landed former Alabama defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis, the No. 1 defensive player in ESPN’s transfer rankings, earlier this week and have also secured commitments from tight end Zach Atkins (Northwest Missouri State), offensive lineman Carter Miller (UL Monroe), linebacker Reginald Hughes (Jacksonville State) and kicker Buck Buchanan (Louisiana Tech).

The Buffaloes will face No. 17 BYU in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28. The Big 12 opponents did not meet during the regular season and were part of a four-way tie for first place in the league standings.
