A nine-month-old boy will grow up without his parents after an alleged drunk driver slammed into their car at a high rate of speed — killing them both months before their wedding.

Jacob Hahn, 24, and Savannah Harding, 22, were killed while driving westbound on Fremont Pike in Ohio on the night of Dec. 9 after the alleged drunk driver, Samantha Hammons, rear-ended their vehicle, causing it to spin into oncoming traffic, according to WTVG.

The force of impact from Hammons speeding Kia Soul caused the couple’s car to be fatally struck by an eastbound Dodge Journey.

Hahn and Harding were pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind their infant son, Beckett.

The Elmore couple were engaged to be married next June.

Hammons, 55, from Toledo, is charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and was booked in the Wood County Jail, documents from the Perrysburg Municipal Court show. 7 Samantha Hammons was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide. The reckless drivers two adult daughters were in the backseat of their mothers Kia when she caused the fatal crash, according to police.

Hammons, including her daughters, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Dodge Journey was also taken in for minor injuries but was later released.

Hammons was under the influence of alcohol d before getting behind the wheel, according to the court documents. 7 Jacob Hahn and Savannah Harding had just welcomed their son, Beckett, to the world nine months ago. Jacob Hahn / Facebook

My heart aches so much now that you are gone, Hardings sister, Brooklyn, wrote in a somber Facebook post, referring to the couple as the sweetest souls.

Life is so unfair. All because of a drunk driver. Taking my only sister/sibling away from me.

You were one of my biggest role models growing up. You made me a first time aunt to little Beckett. I will always be there for him. We all will, Brooklyn shared.

Brooklyn vowed to honor her sisters memory and will fight for justice following the couples senseless deaths. 7 The young couple were engaged to be married next June. Jacob Hahn / Facebook 7 Hammons’ charges carry a mandatory prison sentence of two to eight years Jacob Hahn / Facebook

Brooke Johnson, Hahns cousin, wrote shes sad, but mostly angry after news broke of her loved one and his fiances were killed by the reckless drunk behind the wheel.

Angry that an irresponsible and reckless woman took away the lives of two very young people who truly just started living theirs, Johnson wrote in a Facebook post.

My heart is completely broken for sweet Beckett, because he will never get to know how amazing his parents were, and how much they loved him! 7 A family member wrote how excited Hahn was to become a father when he found out Harding was pregnant. Jacob Hahn / Facebook

In her heartfelt post, Johnson shared how excited Hahn was to become a father.

The best call I ever got from him was when he facetimed me to tell me he was going to be a DAD! He flipped the camera to a sign that said they were expecting, and I yelled Shut the f*** up! And he just laughed, but I could tell he was scared to death, but so happy!

In the wake of the tragedy, businesses and community groups in Elmore have organized fundraising events to support the orphaned infant and family.

None of us can take away the pain away, but we can help to ease the burden that is left behind, Jes Reynolds, the owner of Unvaulted Treasures, one of the participating businesses, told WTOL 11. 7 The young couple was pronounced dead at the scene after their car spun into an eastbound lane. Reynolds store has been stacking up donations, including clothing, blankets, diapers, and other items for Backett.

DeSTAZios, a pizzeria in Elmore, donated 100% of their profits to the cause on Wednesday, sharing that they had completely sold out of products to sell before the day was up.

We actually had a number of people come in and just make donations and didnt even buy a pizza. Everyone just wants to support this family, co-owner Connie DeStazio told the outlet. 7 Businesses and community groups in Elmore have organized fundraising events to support the orphaned infant and family.  Jacob Hahn / Facebook

Elmore is about 18 miles northwest of Toledo.

A judge set Hammons bond at $500,000.

Hammons charges are second-degree felonies in Ohio and carry a mandatory prison sentence of two to eight years, along with a lifetime license suspension if shes found guilty.

Justice secretary’s assisted dying intervention is explosive – and potentially embarrassing for the PM

Justice secretary's assisted dying intervention is explosive - and potentially embarrassing for the PM

With six days to go before Friday’s historic Commons showdown on assisted dying, it’s the opponents who are turning up the heat.

The explosive attack on the bill by Shabana Mahmood follows the poignant and personal plea from Gordon Brown to MPs to reject the bill.

We knew the justice secretary is opposed to the bill. She has already made that clear. But her attack on it, in a letter to constituents, is brutal.

She talks about a “slippery slope towards death on demand”. Savage. The state should “never offer death as a service”, she says. Chilling.

So much for Sir Keir Starmer attempting to cool the temperature in the row by urging cabinet ministers, whatever their view, to stop inflaming or attempting to influence the debate.

Ms Mahmood talks, as other opponents have, about pressure on the elderly, sick or disabled who feel they have “become too much of a burden to their family”.

Details of end of life bill released

She hits out at a “lack of legal safeguards” in the bill and pressure on someone into ending their life “by those acting with malign intent”.

Malign intent? Hey! That’s quite an assertion from a secretary of state for justice and lord chancellor who’s been urged by the PM to tone down her language.

It’s claimed that Sir Keir ticked off Wes Streeting, the health secretary, after he publicly opposed the bill and launched an analysis of the costs of implementing it.

Will the justice secretary now receive a reprimand from the boss? It’s a bit late for that. Critics will also claim Sir Keir’s dithering over the bill is to blame for cabinet ministers freelancing.

Shabana Mahmood is the first elected Muslim woman to hold a cabinet post. Elected to the Commons in 2010, she was also one of the first Muslim women MPs.

She told her constituents in her letter that it’s not only for religious reasons that she’s “profoundly concerned” about the legislation, but also because of what it would mean for the role of the state.

But of course, she’s not the only senior politician with religious convictions to speak out strongly against Kim Leadbeater’s bill this weekend.

Gordon Brown, son of the manse, who was strongly influenced by his father, a Church of Scotland minister, wrote about his opposition in a highly emotional article in The Guardian.

He spoke about the pain of losing his 10-day-old baby daughter Jennifer, born seven weeks prematurely and weighing just 2lb 4oz, in January 2002, after she suffered a brain haemorrhage on day four of her short life.

Mr Brown said that tragedy convinced him of the value and imperative of good end-of-life care, not the case for assisted dying. His powerful voice will strongly influence many Labour MPs.

And what of Kim Leadbeater? It’s looking increasingly as though she’s now being hung out to dry by the government, after initially being urged by the government to choose assisted dying after topping the private members bill ballot.

All of which will encourage Sir Keir’s critics to claim he looks weak. It is, or course, a private members bill and a free vote, which makes the outcome on Friday unpredictable.

But the dramatic interventions of the current lord chancellor and the former Labour prime minister are hugely significant, potentially decisive – and potentially embarrassing for a prime minister who appears to be losing control of the assisted dying debate.

Ward breaks Kosar's season passing yards record

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Another week, another pair of records for Miami quarterback Cam Ward, breaking 40-year-old marks by Bernie Kosar in both cases.

Ward, Miami’s Heisman Trophy contender who already holds the Hurricanes’ single-season record for touchdown passes and is on pace to break the school mark for completion percentage, on Saturday eclipsed Kosar’s school records for both passing yards in a season and completions in a season in the Hurricanes’ 42-14 win over Wake Forest.

Ward completed 27 of 38 passes for 280 yards, plus ran for a score. Ward now has 3,774 yards on 268 completions this season. Kosar threw for 3,642 yards on 262 completions in 1984.

Ward’s 13-yard completion to Damien Martinez with 1:27 left in the second quarter gave him 3,643 yards for the season. Kosar’s mark of 3,642 yards was set in 1984.

Later Saturday, Ward threw a 15-yard pass to Xavier Restrepo for his 263rd completion of the year, topping Kosar’s mark of 262, also set in 1984.

“Congrats #CamWard,” Kosar posted on social media. “U R Awesome.”

Ward is on pace to break Miami’s single-season completion percentage mark of 65.8% set last year by Tyler Van Dyke. He also is on pace to top the Miami career mark (among those with at least 300 attempts) of 64.3% set by D’Eriq King in 2020 and 2021.

Harris return short-lived as Ole Miss WR exits

Ole Miss standout receiver Tre Harris aggravated an injury in the first half at Florida on Saturday and was ruled out for the remainder of the game, a 24-17 Gators win.

Harris initially injured his hip/groin area against LSU on Oct. 12. He returned against Florida, only to go down after a catch late in the second quarter.

During the broadcast, ABC’s Molly McGrath reported it was an aggravation of the original injury.

Harris was seen in street clothes on the sideline to start the second half. He had one catch for 43 yards and a touchdown before exiting.

Harris came into the game as one of the top receivers in the nation, leading the No. 9 Rebels with 987 yards and six touchdowns.
